Sunday Special (31) The Colour Of Paranomal

...is definitely black. Gorogeous black, exotic black as the background and glowing objects of other colours. This combination makes great covers of this genre don't you agree? One more thing, it never gets old. It's getting better and better. Here are the proofs.

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause.

Kissed By An Angel by Elizabeth Chandler.

The Dark Divine by Bree Despain.

Gone by Lisa McMann.

The Body Finder by Kimberly Desting.

Captivate by Carrie Jones.

Shadowland by Alyson Noel.

Sleepless by Cyn Balog.

It's hard to pick one in a sea of covers like these right? But I've already got my favorite of the bunch. It's The Dark Divine. Purple goes so well with black and look at the pale skin of those legs, it's so beautiful I can sit all day staring at it :D

Love any of the covers? And since the majority of the list here is 2010 babies, which one are you most looking forward to?

Ooh, yes, I do love the cover of Shadowlands even though I don't like the series itself. I haven't seen that new cover of Silver Kiss--too bad I can't get it cuz then it would clash with my old Blood & Chocolate! :P Have you seen the new covers of Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, and Romeo & Juliet yet? They're definitely add-worthy to this post. :)

Hi Thao!

I agree that black backgrounds are safe and look awesome.....

Having said that, I must stress that a cover MUST represent the book as well as it possibly can.

I too love the cover of The Dark Divine BUT after having read it, not so much.

It has NOTHING to do with the book in the least! Sooo sad and shocking because the book was fantastic, superb, and amazingly well written.

But I have a Title/Cover section in my review and I note that this cover might look awesome but what's the connection to the book? This is something I consider pretty big as it's what sells the book at first glance.

Sorry to rant but even though it looks great shouldn't it also reflect the book's story too?

Steph - I agree, the series seems not as cool as I expect it to be. I sort of lost hope after I read Evermore and lately I've come across some negative reviews on Blue Moon too. And you have to link me to these cover okay? I'd love to see.

Jessica - I agree. A cover should represent the book perfectly but since I've not read any of these books, I can only judge with my eyes hehe. As for The Dark Divine, this edition is hardcover so we can hope for a better cover when the paperback comes out right?

I like The Silver Kiss a lot, but those are all pretty striking.
